Guest Contributor: College Fashionista Shares Her Secondhand Shopping Experience

Trendy Under $30

At this point, most of my wardrobe is from thrift stores—and I’m proud of it! The hunt for affordable, fashionable resale pieces is thrilling and rewarding. I found that shopping on is just as exciting, and I can do it in the comfort of my own home. A common misconception about secondhand stores is that you can’t find clothes that are on-trend. This is not true! Inspired by the Fall/Winter trends for 2018/2019, I composed a trendy, yet affordable, outfit from

Suiting for the Streets

If you’ve glanced at this season’s runway shows, you may have noticed lots of suiting gracing the catwalks. This is influencing street style tremendously, so be sure to search the site for trousers and oversized blazers. I snagged this adorable pair of brown toned, vintage trousers. The checked pattern adds some dimension to the outfit, which makes it more interesting. A huge benefit of trousers is their versatility. You could pair them with a voluminous blouse, turtleneck, graphic tee, or bold sweater (what I opted for).

Warm Colors and Clothes

Let’s be honest—fall palettes rarely stray from classic jewel tones and warm shades of brown. Red is a prominent color for this season, so, I chose a large, red sweater to make my look pop while sticking to the trends. I love how striking the red appears against my trousers and the texture the sweater adds to the overall ensemble. This piece will wear well with jeans for a more casual look and can also be dressed up with a skirt.

Bold Belts

Accessories add a finishing touch to any outfit, and this grommet belt is probably my favorite purchase from Since it arrived, I’ve worn the belt with many outfits because it is edgy, yet easy to wear. The grunge element allows me to emphasize my individual style, while still staying on-trend and on-budget.

Overall, my shopping experience on was very seamless. The website is easy to navigate, and I enjoyed having the ability to narrow my searches by specific categories. All of my selected pieces came packaged neatly and in the great condition described online. I am already looking forward to my next purchase. Remember: looking stylish doesn’t have to be expensive. This look was less than $30!
