I have to admit that I was not a big reader as a kid. Of course I enjoyed books, but I enjoyed the outdoors, sports and being with friends and family a whole lot more. It’s safe to say that in my earlier years, “summer reading” was not always top of mind.
Sure, I remember the reading list from school, but like most kids that list did not get top priority until late August. Ironically, once I was outside of the rigors of school “summer reading” got a lot more interesting to me. Maybe it was the responsibility of it. Maybe it was the books I had to read! Today, I love a good book in the summertime…several of them actually!
Like many, my children have already started their summer school vacation. With this break comes a list of books to read by the return to school. Thanks to book fairs at the school we are in pretty good shape on the summer reading books, but we have to get a few more and I am looking at Swaptree to help on this. I just checked on the availability of several books for my children and things are looking good! On tap for this summer are some great books for the kids: “Aggie and Ben,” “Best Friends For Frances,” “A is for Salad,” “The Outsiders,” “White Flag,” and “Artemis Fowl.”
At Swaptree and at home, we want our children to start their reading assignments early this summer, and pace themselves throughout their break. This will allow them to enjoy the books and save us parents a mad dash to the bookstores in the last half of August. As a result, Mom and Dad will enjoy the last half of August, as well. I say this now…check in with me in a few months.
As for me, now that the Celtics-Lakers NBA Finals have been wrapped up I have kicked off my summer reading, and a nice early start to summer reading it is! I am hoping to read a number of books this summer – some I have, some are on my Swaptree Want List including: “13 Bankers,” “Grown up Digital,” “The No Asshole Rule,” “Delivering Happiness,” and a few more. Have them? Come swap with me…
In truth, I have come to love summer reading since I left school. Whatever your interests and needs for summer reading, Swaptree can be your place to stock up on books. The bonus? Enjoy the books this summer and then swap them out in the fall for more books…or DVDs…or CDs…or video games…or new categories that we might launch by then. This incentive works with my children this summer: the quicker you read the books, the quicker you can swap for that video game you want. And, Dad doesn’t have to pay for another book or game again. Priceless!
Happy Summer. Happy Reading. Happy Swapping!
