It’s that time of year, again. Summer is winding down, the kids are getting antsy and you’re spending the days back-to-school shopping with all the other exhausted parents ready to put their kids on the bus. There’s still a few weeks and you’ve got to fill them with something entertaining. Good news: We have a few solutions!

Get the kids geared up for back-to-school with a few of the “best back-to-school” movies that span all the generations. We grabbed a few of our favorites for the kids, and the adults. All you have to do is push play.

  1. Sixteen Candles: Wrought with school jocks, geeks and prom queens, Sixteen Candles is one of John Hughes’ classics. Try not to cringe when you flashback to your high school days during the dance scene.
  2. Fast Times at Ridgemont High: Two words: Jeff Spicoli. ‘Nuff said.
  3. Grease: John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John rock Rydell High in this classic back-to-school flick.
  4. Ferris Bueller’s Day Off: The only risk you take with this movie is giving your kids some unique ditching ideas. Then again, it might be pretty cool to see your kid singing “Twist and Shout” on a parade float.
  5. Footloose: This classic tale of teen rebellion ends on a good note when Ren (played by a young Kevin Bacon) convinces the small town to lift the law against dancing so the school can have a senior prom.
  6. Freaky Friday: This story of mother-daughter body-switching means Mom must learn how to cope with high school, and daughter must learn to deal with the day-to-day complications of adult life.
  7. Clueless: Beverly Hills High students struggle with life, love and unlimited charge cards in this classic teen comedy.
  8. Can’t By Me Love: Before he was Dr. McDreamy, Patrick Dempsy was the high school nerd who just wanted to be popular, so he paid the most popular girl in school to reinvent him.
  9. Fame: Teenagers selected for New York City’s High School for the Performing Arts push their talents to the limit to make it big in show business.
  10. The Breakfast Club: Five high school students are forced to spend an entire Saturday together in detention. While serving time, they slowly form friendships that test the bonds of high school cliques everywhere.
