It’s been a whirlwind few weeks at Swap.com. We are moving at a blazing pace to give people more swapping opportunities.
The Swap team is hard at work making it easier to connect to your Facebook friends on Swap.com, find local swap events in your area, and give people a place to swap just about anything. We are also kicking into high gear to bring more swap events to more places (Texas…check. Boston…check. Los Angeles…check. New Orleans, San Francisco, and more).
So, it was great this month when we got a few awards to recognize all the work the team is doing. It allowed us to take a deep breath and gain some valuable perspective. We’ve already discussed our Swap4Schools partnership with Boston public schools. Mayor Tom Menino was so impressed with our community’s generosity, that he created a city-wide partnership.
Soon after that great day, we were told that Lead411 selected Swap.com as one of the country’s hottest startups . It was a very esteemed list that included Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare and Etsy to name a few. Based on criteria including fundraising levels and revenue growth, Swap.com was recognized as one of the fastest-growing technology companies in the Boston area.
A few days following the Lead411 announcement, we were informed by the City of Boston that Swap.com was chosen to receive the “Mayor’s green business award.” The award recognizes local businesses in Boston that demonstrate extraordinary performance related to sustainable environmental practices. Our CEO, Jeff Bennett was on hand to accept the award and was given an amazing introduction by Mayor Menino.
We’re not going to rest because of this recognition, but I won’t lie…it feels good to know that all of this work and recognition is going to bring more swap opportunities to our community.
Thanks to everyone who’s been supportive during our growth and if you’re learning about us for the first time (welcome!), here’s where you can find out more about the joy of swapping!
