Swap of the Day: Turn Your Spare Room Into A Hotel Room

Spare bedroom swappingHotels can often be expensive and impersonal.  And while that is fine for a night or two, why pay a high price for a so-so experience when there is a cheaper, homier option for your vacation dwellings? The Swap team happened to stumble on the super cool Airbnb, a site that just might make travelers rethink how they go about booking rooms for stay.

The site allows members to swap extra space in their home for an extra income stream by listing available space, be it a spare bedroom or a full house, into a temporary rental location. Renters can set available dates and a price on their property and then receive requests  from potential tenants. The site facilitates booking an allows members to trade-in the boring hotel shuffle for a unique, one of a kind B&B experience.

If you’re looking to book a room through the Airbnb community you’ll simply need to enter in a location as well as check in and check out dates to find the available deals  From there you can browse a variety of rental space options that people around the world have listed as available in their homes. Prices vary from area to area but on the whole the penny saving traveler will be pleased to find that there are many options that are much cheaper than typical hotels.

Much like Swap.com, Airbnb has recently utilized Facebook to allow members to find reviews and recommendations from friends and family using the service.

How great, a travel site that not only appeals to my cheap side, but also allows me to swap my standard vacation for a more interesting vacation experience.  Just imagine the people you can meet!
