Five Life Swapping Movies We Love

The Change Up Jason Bateman Ryan Reynolds Life SwappingIt’s no secret that life swapping films make for an entertaining hour and a half, filled with hilarious, yet predictable, hijinks.  And really, what more could a swapping devoted audience ask for?

Considering that Hollywood’s love affair with life swapping plot lines has just produced the soon-to-hit theaters film The Change-Up, featuring Ryan Reynolds and Jason Bateman (we can’t wait for it to come out!), we thought we should celebrate by compiling a Top Five Life Swapping Movies list in no particular order.  Enjoy!

1.  Freaky Friday: Be it the original or the remake, this is my all time favorite body swapping story out there.  I have seen both about 20 times each, but admittedly I do prefer the original.  I think it’s really just because I find the scene where the daughter (in the mother’s body of course) attempts to do laundry and instead ends up filling the room with a bunch of detergent bubbles so utterly comical.

2. The Parent Trap: Again another life swapping movie that was so good, they made it twice.  Strangely, this is also the second life swapping remake on this list starring Lindsay Lohan.  Coincidence?

Face/Off on Blu-ray3. Face/Off: Confession. I have not seen this movie.  But, I did read the summary and I’d say a plot line based on the idea of surgically borrowing another man’s face makes it a pretty solid candidate for this list.  Besides, now that I know both John Travolta and Nicholas Cage are in this film, I will have to make special effort to see it.

4. Trading Places: Eddie Murphy plays  a street smart hustler whose life gets swapped with that of a wealthy financial investor played by Dan Aykroyd.  How can you go wrong with this one? Fun fact, Jamie Lee Curtis is also in this film, making it her second life swapping movie on this list.  I see a pattern emerging.

5. Bubba Ho-Tep: Because every movie list needs a B-grade Bruce Campbell horror film.  And Elvis switching identities with an Elvis impersonator certainly fits the bill.

There you have it, our complete Top Five Life Swapping Movies list.  But now for the really fun part…if you could switch lives with someone today, who would you choose?
