The game of football quite often comes to revolve around rivalries between teams. But for a few Massachusetts high schools this rivalry is overcome every year at the Agganis All-Star Football Classic game through the tradition of swapping stickers
Football stickers for each team are earned at the end of camp and are often a right of passage, so the prospect of wearing another team’s sticker on your helmet would usually be considered absolute blaspheme. But every year the kids from the area high school football teams come together to play with former rivals, forming new friendships and lessening the gap along the way. Out of this has sprouted the unusual tradition of players swapping school stickers, proudly displaying the logos of their competitors right alongside their own.
The spirit of swapping stickers has become a wonderful way for kids from neighboring towns to come together and get to know each other, and of course, close the gap between old rivalries.
