Swap of the Day: A More Efficient Way to Travel Abroad

Swap a vacation for a working holidayTraveling abroad offers many opportunities, it’s a chance to see the world from the perspective of a different culture, a chance to experience new things and even a chance to interact with a variety of new people. It is also a chance to rack up an enormous amount of debt from travel expenses.

Fortunately, with the introduction of a concept called a “working holiday,” you don’t have to give up on your dreams of traveling abroad due to insufficient funds.  Working holidays allow you to totally and completely immerse yourself in the culture of the country in which you are visiting, all the while providing you with a method of paying the bills.

Traveling to another country is great, however, you don’t always get a feel for what it is like to live there. This is where the working holiday has the advantage. By swapping out your life for a life abroad, you allow yourself to truly learn about a new place. You can give yourself a sense of what a typical day-to-day would be like in your new location and get a good idea of the everyday lifestyle the locals are accustomed to. Who knows, you may even find a new location to call home in the process!

If you are interested in trading in your schoolwork or current job for an experience working abroad, check out some of the opportunities offered through the U.S. division of the British Universities North America Club (BUNAC).
