Swap of the Day: Swapping the Suburbs for the City

Swapping the suburbs for the city lifeGo to college. Graduate and get a good job. Get married and move to a nice suburban home complete with a white picket fence. Have adorable children. That’s the way the expected life story goes.

Interestingly enough, many have added a new twist after having adorable children. Instead of staying in the suburbs, families have begun returning to the city in search of a different way of life. According to a recent article in the Canadian National Post, more and more suburbanites are swapping their vehicles and long commutes for the skyscrapers and concrete of the city.

While people move for a variety of reasons, most of the subjects interviewed indicated that they chose to return to city life for the convenience factor of being able to walk everywhere, the diverse culture, and the decrease in gas costs. All considered, most considered the move back to more urban surroundings to be a positive change to their lives.

What do you think? Would you be happier living in the city or the suburbs? Let us know in the comments section below or continue the conversation on our Facebook page.
