Grow Your Tastebuds with a Recipe Swapping Party

Recipe SwappingIt’s so easy to fall into a routine when planning your weekly meals. You end up eating the same things week after week simply because its easy to quickly whip together something you already know how to make. But let’s be honest, that can get so boring after a little while.

Why not change it up, do something fun, and invite your neighbors over for a recipe swap party? All you’ll really need to do is invite some friends and ask them to bring one of their favorite meals to share. While this may sound like an old fashioned potluck the goal is to try to expand everyone’s horizon’s by bring dishes you wouldn’t typically serve on the first interaction with someone. You also want to make sure you discuss food allergies and preferences with your group before assembling for food fun.

From there everyone has the opportunity to try out each recipe, discuss what went into each dish and also stuff themselves silly. At the end of the swap party you’ll be walking away with tighter pants and a few more recipes for your personal cookbook.

There are even so many ways to to theme your recipe swapping get together. For bonus fun you can pass out slips of paper and have your guests guess what ingredients are inside each dish. For each correct ingredient award two points and for each incorrect answer subtract a point. The person with the most points wins a small prize basket. Or perhaps just gets the satisfaction of winning. Either will do.

So while we’re on the subject, what are some of your favorite recipes to share? Let us know in the comments below or keep the conversation going on our Facebook page.
