Kicking Off Your New Year’s Resolution, Part II

Swap for a snowboard this New Year'sIt’s kind of funny that I’m the one writing about New Year’s resolutions, considering that I haven’t made one myself in, oh, probably ten years. It’s not that I don’t like resolutions or anything, it’s just that I find most tend to get pushed to the side. In my experience I’ve found that as we discover that a new year it does not mean it suddenly becomes any easier to reinvent ourselves.

In reflecting on it while writing this post, I’ve realized that perhaps part of the problem with resolutions is our over-ambition mixed with perpetual vagueness. While it’s nice to make resolutions such as “I’m going get the body I’ve always wanted this year,” the resolution doesn’t cover how the goal will be reached, and it doesn’t leave much room for appreciation of the small milestones.

My point is, if we want to make resolutions that we can really keep, we might want to start thinking smaller and more specific. More along the lines of, “I’ve always want to learn how to play golf, so I’ve decided to sign up for once a week lessons during the summer.”

And with that, I’ve decided to list some of my favorite items from the Swap.com Market that can help you keep your New Year’s resolution. Just remember, whatever you resolve, make sure your goals attainable and you’re sure to have a better time!
