Thank Goodwill It’s Friday! Show Us Your Scores & Hauls

It’s no secret that we’re huge fans of Goodwill here at Swap.com, and for the past three years we’ve closely partnered with the organization in each city we visit for our swap events. We love Goodwill because, well because it was also founded in Boston (over 100 years ago!), but more importantly because it provides a super important service in this economy: turning profits from their retail stores into job training, career counseling, and youth programs for those who otherwise wouldn’t have access to those services. It feels so good that the more than 10 tons of leftover clothing and accessories we’ve donated this year to Goodwill stores around the country have directly contributed to Goodwill helping 9,000 people get jobs in 2011, here in Massachusetts alone! Isn’t that amazing?

But, let’s be honest, we also really love shopping their stores, going “Goodwill hunting” for great new scores, and sharing those finds with friends, family, and the interwebs. Which is why Amy and I started a fun little project called “Thank Goodwill It’s Friday,” where we share our favorite recent swapped and thrifted items on Facebook and on Twitter with the hashtag #ThankGoodwillItsFriday each week and ask our friends, fellow swappers, and blog readers to do the same.

As “TGIF” has gotten more and more popular, we’ve stepped up our game and now spend each Friday visiting a different Goodwill, meeting with their teams to “talk swap” and going head-to-head in a styling “challenge”!
