|A few weeks back you caught a glimpse of the behind-the-scenes process at our logistics center. Now we dive even deeper into the first step of the process: Merchandising. Our fabulous staff greets your package upon arrival and inspects each item per our acceptance criteria. During our screening process we rank your items with the below conditions:
Don’t be alarmed if we mark your items as FAIR. That’s still great in our book! We just want to make sure that we accurately depict the condition since it’s sometimes hard to see via the awesome pictures that are taken for our web site.
What’s the funniest thing you have found in an incoming package?
It was a Ghost Writer game, and I used to love that show as a kid.
What’s your favorite part of your job?
Everyday is Christmas when we get to open new packages and create new sets.
Favorite fashion accessory?
Scarves. You can use them for so many different things!
Advice for customers?
Just make sure you are up-to-date on the acceptance criteria and make sure your items are freshly laundered. Clothes that are wrinkle-free take better photos.
|“Swap.com has great items. It’s fun to shop and swap!”
Morgan of Seattle, WA in May 2013We are receiving more and more customer packages and great feedback. Thank you! Half of the items customers send in trade very quickly and the rest little by little. At the moment, summer clothes in good, usable condition fly out! So look through your closets and drawers for shorts, skirts, dresses and swim wear. Also, recent and classic kids’ movies and fun toys sell well, too. Remember that you can also trade books and DVDs for all ages on the Valet Service.
“I am an alumni of the original Swap.com. The Valet Service is user-friendly, has a seamless transaction process and they concentrate on customer assistance. The Valet Service is efficient and effective for those who do not have the time to run an online website and maintain frequent/constant user interaction. Swap.com Valet Service comes with my highest recommendation.”
|How about getting the kids’ summer clothes in the most effortless way this time around? Whether it’s baby wear or tank tops or swimwear for your growing child or teen, we have made it very easy for you to search by brand, type, size, gender, price and condition. While browsing, remember to create your “want list” to get the items through swapping!
- You can now donate your items to Swap.com after they have been for sale for 45 days. If you choose to donate items, they will be moved to the Swap.com donation account and sold. The sales proceeds, after deducting the Swap.com Selling Fee, will be donated to a charity. Read more here.
- The shopping cart is now saved in your user account. This means that when you log in from another computer, you will see the same items in the cart. If you have added some items to the cart before you log in, the carts will be merged.
- We have moved the site from valet.swap.com to www.swap.com. You do not have to worry about this change, since all the old links with valet.swap.com are still working, but you will be redirected to the new URL.
- The top header of the page is now fixed. This means that when you scroll down the page, the search box, shopping cart and My account button will remain on the top of the page. There is also a new “back to top” button to take you back to the top of the page.
We are continuously adding features and improving the usability of the service. We hope you like the improvements.
The Swap.com Valet Service redefines online consignment services and makes trading of pre-owned items more convenient, safer and more profitable than ever before. Items can be swapped, bought, and sold.
The Swap.com Media swapping service was originally known as Swaptree. As user requirements have changed over the years, Swap.com decided it was time to create a service that is more aligned with the customer expectations and business models of today. The Swap.com Media service has been the world’s largest swapping service for books, movies, music and games, and it has served over a million users for almost a decade. The company believes the new Swap.com Valet Service will take online swapping to a whole new level and even greater popularity.
The Swap.com Valet Service offers a superior level of convenience compared with the old self-service concept. The Valet Service does almost everything on behalf of the customer. The customer simply sends items to the Valet Service, and Swap.com does the rest. Swap.com will sort, photograph and list the items on the website, it will safely store them in the logistics center, manage payments, and finally ship the items to the buyer. Another enhancement is the option to sell and buy items, as an alternative to swapping. The customer gets to set the sales price herself.
The Valet Service was initially launched in November 2012 for trading childrens’ items. The service is now expanding to include DVD’s, video games and books for grown-ups, too.
The Swap.com Valet Service improves the safety of transactions. All items in the Valet Service will be centrally stored in the company’s logistics center, which allows Swap.com to ensure that all traded items exist and that they are shipped within one business day. Sold items, however, are only shipped after payment has been received, which guarantees the owner won’t have to worry about getting paid.
The Valet Service can be found at http://www.swap.com. The old Media service has been discontinued on May 1st, 2013
