Swap Stylist Picks: Statement Blazers

Blazers are one of the top trends for the Fall 2017 season. The term “blazer” originated from the red blazers of the Lady Margaret Boat Club in 1825. The jackets were red and therefore termed “blazers” because of the bright red cloth.

The Lady Margaret Boat Club red blazer may not be the biggest trend for this season, however the statement blazers pictured above are each a staple of their own.

Banana Republic Intarsia Blazer: I chose this everyday blazer because of the dressy intarsia design of navy and silver. This blazer is dressy but can be worn to work or to a dressier formal occasion. I would wear this blazer with a white tee and jeans or with black pants and a silk top. The versatility of this blazer is unique because of the print and subtle sheen.

Merona Check Blazer: Check is a trend I am looking forward to carrying through from this season into 2018. With this blazer, you hit two trends with one stone. This blazer is preppy but toned down with the navy and darker red check. Definitely casual meaning you will have more occasions to wear it.

H&M Black/White Print Blazer: This one is for the cool downtown girl that wears leather leggings and graphic tees. This blazer can be dressed up but its probably too busy for an interview or formal occasion. A Saturday night out is the time to show this one off.

H&M Maroon Herringbone Blazer: The favorite. Herringbone + maroon = buy it now. I have seen maroon colored blazers EVERYWHERE from designers to influencers and can only hope they’re here to stay. Colored suiting is one of the top trends for 2018 and this blazer does this trend justice in the most flattering way.

Merona Grey Plaid Blazer: I just saw an identical designer version of this blazer for $650!! No need to pay that amount when you can get this blazer on Swap.com for $14!! This blazer is timeless and versatile. If you are looking for a blazer to take you through the next few seasons this would be it. Grey is a good color for everyone while the plaid print is on trend and not going out of style any time soon.
