Happy Argyle Day! The wait is over– the preppiest day of the year is finally here.
Argyle originated from the tartan of Clan Campbell of Argyll in Scotland. Argyle was used for kilts and socks since the 17th century and was first recognized in Britain and the U.S. after the Duke of Windsor sported argyle golf clothing, jerseys and long socks. Although argyle day is celebrated in the U.S. on January 8th, different countries have different days in which they celebrate this preppy diamond pattern!*
Don’t own enough argyle? We have argyle for the whole family! Below are some of my top picks on Swap.com that will help you celebrate this flattering pattern in style!
This cashmere sweater vest by Paul Fredrick is only $16 on our site and can be worn so many different ways. I would suggest wearing this vest over a button up shirt for work or a v-neck long sleeve shirt to go to dinner. This is also a good layering piece as it does not have sleeves and can easily be worn under a jacket to appear as a long sleeve sweater. This is just one of the hundreds of argyle items we have for men on our site. Shop men’s argyle here!
When most people think of argyle they think of this pattern made in neutral colors or the original blue and green diamond pattern. However, we offer argyle in so many different colors on Swap.com including in this palette of hot pink and red (Talbots, $8 on Swap.com). This argyle top is great because you can wear it in the fall with a fur vest or leather vest over it or in the spring with a white or denim skirt. These two sweaters are great for the fall and winter season. The pink cardigan by Justice Girls for $12 can also be worn during the summer to throw on during those cooler nights. The flattering green color of the Gap v-neck sweater for $11 is perfect for school pictures and is sure to pair well with jeans or khakis. Argyle is a pattern that can dress up any outfit for your child to create a clean look. Shop kid’s argyle here!
How adorable are these outfits for babies? This onesie is by Faded Glory and retails for $7 on our site and this cap sleeve dress with a flare at the bottom is Gymboree Girls and retails for $10 on our site. This onesie has many shades of blue and is so much more fun than a regular old white onesie! The pink and grey dress is adorable and can be worn casually or dressed up with tights for a family occasion. If you can’t get enough argyle for your baby, shop here!
