Merchandising from A to Z

A few weeks back you caught a glimpse of the behind-the-scenes process at our logistics center. Now we dive even deeper into the first step of the process: Merchandising. Our fabulous staff greets your package upon arrival and inspects each item per our acceptance criteria. During our screening process we rank your items with the below conditions:

  • New/New with Tags: has original tags or in original and sealed packaging; never been used
  • Good: looks like you just pulled it out of your own closet, no signs of wear and tear
  • Fair: maybe a little bit more loved, small-minor stains, but still a great deal

Don’t be alarmed if we mark your items as FAIR. That’s still great in our book! We just want to make sure that we accurately depict the condition since it’s sometimes hard to see via the awesome pictures that are taken for our web site.

  1. Hi,
We are a new seller, a small non profit resale shop and have sent in 20 boxes in the last 2 weeks. I’ve had great help from Rejeanne on a lot of topics. But here’s a question I really neeed answered. Since your swamped right now with incoming would you consider having cut off dated based on season? I’m asking actually for me because I don’tt want my stuff sitting somewhere in the “pipeline” and them being posted up when it’s the wrong season. Sure I’d like to just box up everything and shot it out but I think we both need to sell it as quickly as possible. And it would automatically start reducing you overload without restraicting sending out shippng labels. Please tos this around and get back to me. I am going to start soon packing only winter boxes and then marking that in big letters on them. Hope this works for both of us. Thanks for doing what your doing. Tom

    1. Hi Tom.

Thank you for your message, and I will definitely pass your feedback to our management tema. At Swap.com, our seasonality is very important, but winter items still sell (slower) during the summer and vice versa; so we never want to single out certain seasons in our shipments. It’s all about the quality, pricing, and need for the items, if a seller consistently monitors their items for seasonality and pricing, they sell year round.

At this time, we are not accepting new shipments from our sellers, and we are adding many new goodies to our processing structure. We plan to re-open our new seller platform soon, and with little or no wait time.

Thanks again, if you have any other questions or concerns, please email me directly– selling@swap.com
