Being a stay-at-home mom is very rewarding, and it gives you an opportunity to spend every day with your children. However, in today’s day and age, having only a single income can lead to a tight budget, and many women want the independence that comes from earning their own paychecks. Here are some ways to make money as a stay-at-home mom.
#1 – Run Errands for Others Online
These days, contacting billers, making calls to service providers, and scheduling appointments can certainly take its toll on people. Believe it or not, there are websites out there that will allow you to create an account and handle these errands on behalf of others. The pay ranges from about $2.50 to $7 per task completed, and you can do it on your own time as you see fit. It isn’t a lot of money, per se, but if you do it in your spare time, you can find plenty of opportunities to make money.
#2 – Put Your Good English to Use
There are no fewer than a dozen websites out there that will hire you to write things like blog posts, internet-based articles, web pages, and more. If you’re a good writer, you know your grammar, and you can type quickly, you can make a decent amount of money with these sites, too. Generally, you’ll be asked to take a “test”, and the rating you receive will determine your pay scale. You can always improve and receive a higher rating, and in some cases, you can even start editing other writers’ work to add to your paychecks. Once again, you can work at your own pace and only take on what you can handle.
#3 – Consider Becoming an Online Juror
Everyone dreads getting a summons for jury duty, but believe it or not, you can get paid to become an online juror. You won’t really be responsible for determining someone’s fate in this case; lawyers use panels of “mock” jurors online to get feedback about their cases before their clients actually go to trial. You won’t get paid much for this – about $5 to $10 per case – but it can certainly add up if there are enough cases in your area. You’ll need to live in the county or federal district where the trial will take place, and this can be a hindrance to those who live in low-population areas.
#4 – Take Surveys
There are at least 50 online survey companies out there that will pay you for your opinion, but some have a better reputation than others, so be sure you do your research. Some of these sites award points for each survey you complete, and you can later redeem those points for gift cards or cash. One good rule of thumb to keep in mind – if there’s a cost to sign up, it’s not a legitimate survey site.
There are many ways to make money as a stay-at-home mom, and you don’t even have to leave the house. You can set your own hours and do as much or as little as you want, making it the perfect opportunity for anyone who wants a little extra mad money or enough to help pay the bills.
